What happens next
We request the wind-load certification for
your exact door and opening from the manufacturer, and send you the document with the
quote. Ratings are specified by pressure, not wind speed — pressure accounts
for your lot exposure, roof height, and how close the opening sits to the building corner, which a
wind speed alone cannot. A door two feet from a corner can need a full step more rating than the
same door in the middle of a wall.
Within Harris County, only structures east of Highway 146 and inside the city limits of Seabrook, La Porte, Shoreacres, Pasadena or Morgan’s Point fall under the TDI windstorm programme. Houston proper, Katy, Spring, Cypress and Sugar Land do not. If your address is in that strip, the WPI-1 application has to be filed before work starts — not after.
